About Us
The Burlington Gem and Mineral Club (BGMC) is a northern Vermont club open to anyone interested in minerals, fossils, gems, and lapidary crafts. Club activities include presentations by club members and invited speakers at monthly meetings, field trips to collect minerals and fossils, members-only auctions, and our Champlain Valley Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show held each July.
To promote an interest in our hobby, the Club supports talks and displays by members at local schools and libraries. The Club also offers the Ethel and William Schuele Scholarship to support original research on Vermont geology by undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a college or university within New England or New York.
The Burlington Gem and Mineral Club is a member of the Eastern Federation of Mineralogical and Lapidary Societies, Inc. (EFMLS) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS). Federation-sponsored activities are described on their respective websites.
