Membership
The Burlington Gem and Mineral Club encourages prospective members to attend one of our monthly meetings, which generally includes a presentation or video about some aspect of gem, mineral, and fossil collecting, followed by a discussion of Club business. Meetings are casual and families with young children should not feel obligated to remain for the business portion of the meeting.
Membership in the BGMC entitles you to receive our award-winning monthly newsletter, which typically includes the proceedings of the previous monthly meeting, articles about gems, minerals, and fossils, collecting and specimen preparation hints and tips, reports about the Club's collecting trips, notices about upcoming Club collecting trips, and a listing of upcoming gem, mineral, and fossil shows. Our newsletter will be sent to you or the primary member of a family membership electronically as an e-mail attachment in Adobe Portable Document Format (Adobe PDF). Here is a sample newsletter.
The Club organizes a number of mineral and fossil collecting trips mainly to New England, New York, and Quebec during the spring, summer, and fall. The insurance carried by the Club to protect the property owners of the collecting sites we visit requires that you and all members of your family be members of the Club in order to attend these trips. On rare occasions, mine or quarry owners may set age or accessibility restrictions that the Club must abide by.
Your annual membership will run from January 1 through December 31. Membership is not prorated for an application received after January 1. Members joining in the middle of the calendar year may request to receive the appropriate number of back issues of the electronic newsletter by contacting the Club's Membership Coordinator.
The cost is $12.00 for an individual membership or $20.00 for a family membership. Download the membership application using the link below. We ask that you provide alternate phone numbers and e-mail addresses as appropriate so that we may contact all collecting trip participants if need be. Please mail your check and the completed application to the address shown on the form.
